Sulakshana Deb

Born on 20th August 2006 in Kolkata, Sulakshana Deb has been a true lover of various forms of art, especially music since childhood. Inheriting this talent from her mother, Suchandra Deb, who was her first guru. Devoting herself immensely in music, she was blessed to come under the guidance of Smt.Vinita Gupta, a versatile Hindustani Classical Vocalist who has taken her musical training under late Dr.Madurima Kishore(Kirana Gharana) and late Dr.Sharayu Kalekar(Rampur Sadarang Parampara).Sulakshana is presently a student of class 10 studying in Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh. Besides being excellent at academics and art,she has bagged many prizes and trophies in the interschool and state level, as well she had also secured the first position in classical singing in the National level along with many other accolades and cash prizes. Sulakshana is not only well versed in Classical Ragas, but also in other forms of music including Doha Gayan, Bhajans, Shabad, Folk and Khayals.

She believes that music is not only her passion but is also a medium for spiritual upliftment not only for herself but for all those who are in contact with her.

The presented Classical Vocal Raag is Raag Puriya Dhanashree Bada Khayal.The minimum time needed for singing bada khayal raag is 15-25 mins with the alaaps of more than 12-17 mins.But Sulakshana, in the presented Puriya Dhanashree raag has completed the whole bada khayal in 7 mins and 28 sec, and has presented the whole jist of the Puriya Dhanashree raag in the form of only 3 alaaps with the total duration of 2 min 58 sec.
